Hans

I directed this game! Hans is a hand drawn RPG with eight possible endings. It takes place during World War I.

You play as an alien who bakes magical confections to help his community, but isn't sure if he should follow every request given to him.

It was a blast to find solutions when

having to make all the assets on paper.

The biggest challenge was probably the mixing bowl contents, since erasing to redraw every sprite would ruin the paper.

 

The solution was fairly simple though--- I cut out the bottom shape of the bowl and trace along it for the right size of each asset.

Bloobo

Bloobo is a 2D mobile physics-based puzzle game with heavy narrative elements. 

I was the lead artist on Bloobo and designed the titular Bloobo itself, as well as the final boss and robot mentor.

 

I provided guidance and feedback to the four other artists, did cleanup work on the cosmetics, created temp art for the tools and hazards, as well as drew the loading screen arts and key art.

Hedge Hug

Hedge Hug is a 2D narrative-driven single-player adventure game that explores low self-esteem and social anxiety issues.

I illustrated backgrounds for Hedge Hug. I participated in the weekly standups, all team meetings, and art meetings.

In the art meetings, I provided helpful critique for the four other artists, as well as design ideas for other elements such as the curser, logo, and bullet hell-esc gameplay.

Skin Deep

Skin Deep is an interactive comic in which you play as Kira, a young Irish-Korean girl growing up in suburban America with two loving parents, lots of Legos and a loyal cat companion. As she journeys through the pains of adolescence with flirting, bullying, snacks, friends and loss, the game tries to reckon with Kira’s past in order to move on with her future.

I designed seven of the characters on Skin Deep, as well as colored multiple comic pages.

Puppy Chow Simulator

This game was made by my good friend Theryn Nguyen and I for the "fluffy but scary" 2020 Halloween gamejam.

We designed the game together around my concept, and I did all the art except for the maze sequences, as well as compiled the sound effects.

The idea and game loop are fairly simple. You find a helpless puppy in the woods, and meander through a maze until you find food for it.

The more it eats, the further it transforms into something... else.
